After receiving a request for shipment from an unregistered consignor, the carrier started the mandatory assessment to validate the legality of the shipment request. After the cargo was exported from its country of origin, it didn’t get customs clearance in the country of transit as the mechanical parts included in the shipment couldn’t clearly be related to any vehicle. After spending several days collecting relevant information, analysts discovered that the mechanical parts were related to military vehicles. Because the consignor had no transit license and because the country of destination was embargoed for such goods, the cargo was halted in the country of transit and took up space in the storage terminal of the carrier until the situation was solved.
