We designed a set of 12 Elementary Scenario Components (ESC12) enabling us to unveil the story hidden within any type and form of data. The application of those components is made possible through our software platform, making use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to automate complex analytics tasks, reduce the need for manual work, and empower our customers to timely and efficiently make decisions.

Engineering Lead

What will you do as an Engineering Lead?

The Engineering Lead has a combined responsibility of both, software development and leadership of the technical team it is part of. While participating to the team effort with hands-on development, the Engineering Lead provides mentorship and technical expertise to help the team delivering as per the set expectations. It might support the Product Owner in formulating technical recommendations and helps the team translating the functional requirements into a technical architecture/design.

The Engineering Lead is assigned a team of developers, whereby it oversees their individual performance and growth path. It also nurtures and assesses software developers and participates in the recruitment process of those.

Typical tasks of the Engineering Lead are to:

  • Identify the technical requirements and dependencies to fulfill functional specifications;
  • Be able to support the team by safeguarding scope and focus during sprint delivery;
  • Identifying risks and bottlenecks and propose workarounds to preserve project delivery and deliverables;
  • Be able to think ahead and identify potential improvements to submit those to the Product Owner;
  • Track ongoing projects and help identify the team’s strengths and weaknesses to drive training and learning;
  • Nurture and assess software developers, support them in their professional growth;
  • Ensure that development teams continue to work collaboratively and have group ownership;
  • Support management by communicating challenges, failures, and successes, and help the team voice potential concerns;
  • Hire, train, and coach new members to support the team’s growth, synergy, and efficiency;
  • Keep track of efficiency, identify potential improvements and support management in building the most relevant processes;
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, developments, and newest tools to promote use of those when applicable;
  • • Support and perform code QA and help the team safeguarding work and quality standards.

What do we expect from an Engineering Lead?

  • •  At least a BSc or equivalent, preferably a MSc in a relevant field;
  • •  At least 4 years of experience in a similar position;
  • •  Proven track record in the above (reference from previous position);
  • •  Problem solving mindset, ability to take initiative and attention to detail;
  • •  Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and infrastructure;
  • •  Familiarity with automation and provisioning tools like Helm and Ansible;
  • •  Expertise with cloud services such as MS Azure, AWS and GCP;
  • •  Knowledge of Identity Access Management mechanisms such as OpenID;
  • •  Experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
  • •  Knowledge of monitoring systems such as Graylog, Grafana, Prometheus;
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling, preferably Azure DevOps CI;
  • •  Ability to take ownership and support the team through all situations;
  • •  Perfect verbal and written English, Dutch would be a great addition.
